This Church, is not my Church at all, I have visited a few times before. However, they are wonderful people who LOVE Jesus Christ, and strive to follow Him. The Pastor is an excellent speaker and one of the smartest people you will ever come across. I hope if you are looking into a church, to possibly give this one a try! They are not eagerly awaiting hell to swallow them up :)
Bob, there is nothing Christian about your review! If you knew anything about Heaven or Hell, you would know that you do not have the DIVINE RIGHT to decide whether someone is going to Hell or not and I hope you know, that you sound very foolish speaking like that. Jesus Christ WAS a Jewish Prophet and mystic who these people also believe to be their savior. The "pastor" is a brilliant man who is not so quick to judge, like you are doing now, and is trying to be Christ-like in loving all of his fellow men. Mathew 22:39 says Love your neighbor as yourself. Take notes, buddy. You are not loving your fellow neighbor right now. I cannot speak for Jesus Christ and what he would think of what you are saying, but if Jesus were sitting next to you, would you tell him that people who follow him(maybe if it is a little differently then you) are going to Hell? I think not.
Every service here begins with, "Whoever you are, where ever you are on your life's journey, you are welcome here." The United Church of Christ denomination has a long history of being involved in social justice and humanitarian causes. This particular congregation embodies that. It is a small but a very warm and welcoming church. The music is contemporary leaning towards songs of the last 30 years or so along with a fair dose of old spirituals and they are known to sing a few hymns from time to time. If what you are looking for is a progressive faith community with teachings that lean towards the "Emergent Church" theology, this is the place for you. If you want a strictly evangelical "Gotta get saved by Jesus blood" experience, this is not for you. As far as "Bob" concerned, if you look at his many reviews, it is clear that he is just going to church web sites and deciding if they are "right" or "wrong" and then he rips them for being "wrong". Every one of his reviews are one star and they are for churches all over the country. Take it for what it's worth.
