I went into home depot today 8/5 to the flooring department to get another box of allure cherry plank flooring but they were out. I went to the flooring desk and waited around for 20 minutes and no one was there. Then after waiting ten minutes at customer service they called back to the flooring department and had someone named Mike meet us there. I knew what I wanted but he insisted on looking it up on my account using my phone number. Since he could not find the product by my phone number he said there was nothing he could do and sent us back to customer service. Customer service had along line. I went home and ordered it on line by the description I just mentioned above. Just like Mike should have done if he wasn't so lazy and in a hurry to go back to where he was hiding before we so rudely disturbed him.
Love home depot and they beat Lowes on prices on certain items. The one thing I wish HD would focus on is customer service. When you need help there are no staff around. When you ask someone where an item is when you can find someone they send you to the wrong area of the store. I used to work for this company in CA and the one thing I did was learn the stores layout like I know the back of my hand. This is what employees need to do with this location and others. I am now disabled and walking back and forth trying to get the right location of a item is painful. This is why I now shop at Lowes most of the time. I know I can get help with a push of a button or there always seem to be someone you can ask. Their online app is great to for looking up what item or items you are after and they tell you where you can find it in the store saving you time and energy. HD could take some lessons from Lowes.
Overall Home Depot Kalispell is a good store and we've had great help from employees. However, we don't recommend them for carpet or flooring installation as they use Carpet Pros to do the work. Here is our experience:
We used Carpet Pros through Home Depot to have vinyl flooring and carpeting installed throughout the entire house. The flooring was started first. The worker who was scheduled to come out on a Saturday didn't contact us for several hours. I called Carpet Pros to get the status and the worker stated he was running late. Within 5 minutes they called back and said he wouldn't be able to make it and would come out Sunday.
On the bright side, and the reason for a rating as high as 3 was the carpeting. The workers did a great job, quick, efficient and clean. Problem being was they were not local workers, they were from California. Kind of strange but I guess there's a shortage of workers in the Flathead Valley in Montana.
This was surprisingly fun. Well, it seems sketchy, you go to a ole ramshackle house and a fella named Ray comes out. He loads you into his trusty ole suburban and you go bumping along across his ranch to the pictographs. It turns out to be an outstanding experience! Ray is very knowledgeable and entertaining. Go, it's worth it, just be there at 10 am, and bring water!
We are very patient people and understand people have bad days, but this work was poorly done by a person with a bad attitude. The worker called Carpet Pros the next day to complain about the job and he obviously didn't want to come back. We didn't want him back either. Carpet Pros was not able to get anyone else to commit to finishing the job so we had no choice but to hire someone to finish the flooring.
Sunday came and the worker came out in the morning and one of the first things he stated was, "This job won't get done today." . Well since he was by himself I guess we can see that. However, not only did he not finish the job the work he did was half-assed. Patterns were not well placed, large gaps against the wall where base board would not cover, and poorly cut angles around openings and walls. He also complained a good portion of the time and stated our house was not like a regular house so it was too difficult to put flooring down. It really seemed as though he did not want to be there.
