The Humane Society is a fantastic place! It is no kill, great kennels, clean and the animals are loved by the employees. A fantastic, large, yard where the dogs can run.and play, twice a day.
Be prepared to jump through hoops to adopt a pet. They don't just let you walk in and take a pet home
First of all, this is not a no-kill shelter, so I support the Flathead County Animal Shelter (which is no-kill!) Second, this is not affiliated with the Humane Society of the United States. Third, some of the key staff (front desk, E.D.) I have spoken with there seem very rude, disinterested, lazy and/or unqualified. On the plus side, there seem to be a lot more dogs there now than in the past few years. When I was there last year, there were only 2 (!) dogs up for adoption.
The animals seem well cared for...clean...exercised...and healthy...
Stopped in to see if we could find a good fit between us and a rescue. Didn't happen this trip, but we will be back. The facility is clean and the animals all seemed well taken care of.
